My 4th grade teacher was a friend of Madeleine L’Engle and had her come to our class shortly after her book “A Wrinkle in Time” won a Newberry. This began my love of science fiction (although the book was never mainstream in that genre), a voracious reading habit, and eventually, my own writing career (although that didn’t happen until after all of my formal schooling was done). She died this week at 88. A sad day.
I hadn’t heard that she died; that is sad. I absolutely loved A Wrinkle in Time and the books that followed; they were magical.
